ps- as a woman

I believe there is a subtle flaw in the teaching going around about how the husband being the head of the wife is now meant to mean that the husband is responsible for the wife and children's spiritual and emotional life. I get it- I get what that teaching is trying to say- that men need to be more involved in actively caring about the needs of their loved ones- fair enough.

However, though Christ takes responsibility to love the church, he does also expect her to take responsibility for herself. I cannot agree with a teaching that subtly pushes me under a man-made umbrella of authority, when Christ came to set us free to submit to him out of love.

I don't believe my husband is responsible for my issues- I am.
A lack of personal responsibility leads to codependence, and Christ doesn't have that kind of relationship with the church. The husband leads the wife and family like Christ leads the church and his children; do we have to read anything more into it than that?

"Do not go beyond what is written"...and thank God for Cloud and Townsend. ;)
